"KING" , Film Bulutangkis Pertama di Dunia

Sebuah film pertama tentang bulutangkis diputar di bioskop mulai 25 Juni 2009. Film bertajuk KING ini merupakan film keluarga yang mengambil bulutangkis sebagai setting cerita.Film yang menceritakan tentang perjuangan seorang anak dari desa yang berusaha menjadi berarti hidupnya lewat upaya keras ini dibuat atas inspirasi akan kerinduan sang produser Ari Sihasale dan Nia Zulkarnaen pada sosok yang mampu mengharumkan nama bangsa seperti Liem Swie King. Itulah sebabnya pemilihan judul film ini diambil dari nama panggilan salah satu maestro bulutangkis ini, sekaligus terkesan provokatif sebagai sebuah judul film. KING adalah film inspiratif dan bukan merupakan film biografi tentang Liem Swie King.Film yang didukung oleh Djarum Bakti Olahraga ini juga mengambil GOR PB Djarum di Jati, Kudus sebagai salah satu setting shooting. Pilihan jatuh pada GOR PB Djarum, karena dalam film ini PB Djarum menjadi klub yang menjadi tujuan Rangga (pemeran utama) untuk mewujudkan mimpinya menjadi atlit badminton kenamaan. Uniknya, selain King sebagai inspirasi film, Hariyanto Arbi, Ivanna Lie, Maria Kristin dan Hastomo Arbi juga ikut bermain akting dalam film ini.
KING menghadirkan pesan bahwa kerja keras dan usaha tanpa henti adalah kunci untuk menjadi yang terbaik. Ari Sihasale sendiri berharap, film itu bisa menjadi inspirasi dan motivasi bagi banyak pihak. "Sebelum membuat film ini, kita sudah riset dan banyak bertanya tentang bagaimana Liem bisa berhasil dan jadi juara. Intinya, cita-cita boleh apa saja, tapi menggapainya harus lewat perjuangan. Kita ambil spirit dari Lim Swie King," jelasnya dalam konferensi pers penayangan film King, Senin, 22 Juni 2009.
"Saya melihat, pesan di film ini bertujuan mulia. Saya rasa baik," tanggap Liem Swie King tentang kesannya pada film ini . "Sukses tidak bisa datang begitu saja," tambahnya.
'King' berkisah tentang Guntur, seorang bocah yang berusaha mewujudkan cita-citanya sebagai pemain bulu tangkis nasional. Ayah Guntur mengidolakan atlet bulu tangkis legendaris, Liem Swie King yang sering mengharumkan nama Indonesia di kancah internasional. "Kita pun ingin kembali menularkan nasionalisme kepada anak-anak di Indonesia," ujar Ale. Pesan berupa character building bagi bangsa Indonesia bahwa mencapai sesuatu harus berjuang keras sangat terasa dalam film ini.
Film King juga dilengkapi dengan penerbitan buku tentang film ini serta serangkaian soundtrack yang apik.

Kisah perjuangan dan perjalanan panjang seorang anak bernama Guntur dalam meraih cita-citanya menjadi seorang juara bulutangkis sejati, seperti idola dia dan ayahnya: Liem Swie King...
Ayah Guntur adalah seorang komentator pertandingan bulutangkis antar kampung yang juga bekerja sebagai pengumpul bulu angsa, bahan untuk pembuatan shuttlecock. Dia sangat mencintai bulutangkis dan dia menularkan semangat dan kecintaannya itu pada Guntur anaknya, walaupun dia sendiri tidak bisa menjadi seorang juara bulutangkis.
Mendengar cerita ayahnya tentang "KING" sang idola, Guntur bertekad untuk dapat menjadi juara dunia. Dengan segala keterbatasan dan kendala yang ada dihadapannya, sebagai sahabat setianya Raden pun selalu berusaha membantu Guntur, walaupun kadang bantuan Raden tersebut justru seringkali menyusahkannya, seperti ketika Raden memaksanya harus bertanding dengan mas Raino jagoan bulutangkis di kampung mereka, yang akhirnya membuat Guntur di hukum oleh sang ayah. Namun dengan semangat yang tinggi tanpa mengenal lelah, dan pengorbanan berat yang harus dilakukan, Guntur tak henti-hentinya berjuang untuk mendapatkan beasiswa bulutangkis dan meraih cita-citanya menjadi juara dunia bulutangkis kebanggaan INDONESIA dan kebanggaan keluarga seperti ... LIEM SWIE KING..SANG IDOLA!
